Stargardt’s disease is an inherited progressive disease that affects the retina.
The disease causes a blurring of vision, especially the ability to see fine details, for example difficulty reading a book and recognising faces.
It is most commonly diagnosed in children and young adults, but can also be diagnosed in middle age and less often in older people. It affects approximately one in 10,000 people and therefore is classed as a rare condition.
There is currently no treatment or cure for Stargardt’s disease.
The One Show One Big Thank You
Our CEO Bhavna Tailor was nominated for the BBC1 The One Show One Big Thank You which aired on Thursday 20th November. A special treat was organised with the BBC Saturday Kitchen Live team where they surprised her with The One Show One Big Thank You to celebrate all the work she has done and continues to do through Stargardt’s Connected.
We would like to say a big thank you to BBC The One Show and the Saturday Kitchen Live team for arranging the incredible surprise and helping to shine a light on Stargardt’s and Stargardt’s Connected.

Events
We are so pleased to have resumed our face to face meet ups again and we will post any of our upcoming events on the Events section of the website.
We know the importance of connecting with others affected by Stargardt's so our virtual Zoom Sessions and face to face meet ups are an excellent way to do so.
We hold regular Adult Zoom sessions and they have proved really popular as we connect with people around the world sharing stories and tips. We also have regular speakers, either from the Medical Professional community or members of the community affected by Stargardt's. You can watch the recordings of some of these sessions on our YouTube Channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmK7KK6gfO0AUduvPf-befw
We also hold separate fun informal Zoom sessions for children and young people with Stargardt’s. This is a fantastic way for children and young people to chat to one another, play games and have fun!
If you would like to find out more or join our sessions, then please leave a message and we will get back to you.
