Stargardt's Connected

🌟Our September Stargardt Star is Ethan Tailor. 🌟

This September marks
10 years since Ethan’s Stargardt’s diagnosis.
Ethan was 7 when he was diagnosed with Stargardt’s in 2015 and is one of the motivations for the charity Stargardt’s Connected being set up.
Since his diagnosis, Ethan has continuously been involved in fundraising and raising awareness of Stargardt’s- from doing a whole school Assembly about his condition when he was 8, being on the news, on the radio and in the papers, having a short film made about his diagnosis journey and presenting at international conferences.
Despite the challenges he has faced with progressive vision loss, his positivity and can do attitude has always shone through. He has an adventurous spirit and has been cliff diving, skiing and learnt to scuba dive in Zanzibar!
His real passion is cooking and he is an avid and super talented cook getting 100% in his GCSE practical Food Tech exam.
He has won multiple awards for his hard work, resilience and positive attitude.
He is currently doing his A levels, has a part-time weekend job in a cafe, hopes to go to University and aspires to run his own restaurant business as a chef.

Ethan says, “Don’t let Stargardt’s stop you following your dreams. There will be challenges but with adaptations, and a positive mindset, you can achieve your dreams”.

The world has always been his oyster and has never let his sight loss stop him with his own saying being, “The limit is what you choose”.

🌟Keep shining Ethan! 🌟

Stargardt's Connected

The Goffs Oak Community Association (GOCA) invited Bhavna to a presentation ceremony last week where Stargardt’s Connected was presented with a £500 donation cheque. Bhavna, alongside representatives from the other charities, Teens Unite, and Isabel Hospice were joined by committee members, councillors and local MP Lewis Cocking for a short presentation at the Goffs Oak War Memorial.
We are so grateful to the Goffs Oak Community Association for their generosity and for choosing Stargardt’s Connected as one of the charities to support and fundraise for at their Summer Fayre in June.

Stargardt's Connected

The sun really shone for us this Sunday for our Picnic in the Park. Thank you so much to everyone who joined us and made the day really fun and special. ☀️

We had lots of activities including football, t-shirt and bag decorating and other arts and crafts and much more. Everybody brought their favourite picnic snacks and we had a great time chatting and laughing together.

Make sure to watch out for our upcoming events as it’s always a great opportunity to get together, network and share experiences.
