The sun has finally arrived and with International Women’s Day this weekend what a perfect time to shine a light on our third Stargardt’s Star of 2025 ⭐️ ...Meet the absolutely fantastic, Shalini.
Shalini was diagnosed with Stargardts 3 years ago following a long sight loss journey that started when she was just 12 years old. For many years, she did not discuss her vision with others until 4 years ago when she joined Croydon Vision. Since then, she loves to meet new people within the community who understand her and who she can share ideas with. Shalini now works as an Outreach Lead at Croydon Vision where she passionately supports others with sight loss to live more independently.
Originally from Mauritius, Shalini speaks four languages (French Mauritian, Creole, Hindi and English), loves Bollywood and dancing, and is an extremely talented cook (her specialities are biryani, roti and some Chinese dishes).
Shalini’s advice: “Find your strength and focus on that.”
