Brian Morris
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our oldest Stargardt’s Connected member, Brian Morris who died earlier this year at the age of 92.
He was a regular member of our Adult Zoom sessions and his family reported that he enjoyed them thoroughly. Brian received his diagnosis of Stargardt’s Disease in 2021 at the age of 91, after deciding to be genetically tested following our Zoom Session with Professor Moosajee, who was encouraging all patients to do so. Prior to that he had been told he had Junior Macular Dystrophy.
Brian was a trained solicitor and his wife Libby says, “With the help of various audio-visual aids and ‘readers’ he was able to continue his work as a solicitor until the age 82. He had the most wonderful memory and mind, so loved a challenge. We used to describe his ‘speciality’ in the law as ‘Ye Olde Family Solicitor’ – a dinosaur, because he tackled everything. Much of Brian’s last few years in legal practice included helping clients to deal with the Licensing Act 2003”.
The photo shows Brian and his daughter Frankie on a three-wheeled bicycle that was loaned to them by ‘Charlotte’s Tandems’.
We want to say a big thank you to the family for kindly sending donations in his memory from his funeral to Stargardt’s Connected.
Brian will be really missed and our thoughts and prayers are with the family.
Thank you!
