We are really excited to announce April’s Stargardt’s Star, Rose ⭐️
Rose was diagnosed with Stargardt’s at age 8 in the summer of 2025, and is now 9 years old. Her diagnosis came as a very big shock, as there had been no history of retinal disease on either side of her family, but Rose doesn’t let anything dull her shine.
Full of energy and creativity, Rose loves dancing, gymnastics, swimming, listening to audiobooks, and all things Harry Potter. She has also recently started learning to play the guitar. Rose is also very curious and determined, and as she gets older she would love to learn more about genetics.
One of the things Rose values most is being part of the Children and Young People’s sessions with Stargardt’s Connected. Meeting other children with Stargardt’s means so much to her and has been an important part of her journey.
This year, Rose also helped raise awareness and funds through her gymnastics club by taking part in ‘Wear Stars for Stargardt’s’. We are also incredibly proud of her friend India, who ran the Rome Marathon in March in support of Stargardt’s Connected 👏.
Rose loves to share her own stories and experiences like how she recently had a wonderful time at the Warner Bros Studio Tour, where staff made the experience especially accessible. With tactile stations and one-to-one chats, Rose was able to explore costumes, learn fascinating facts, and even touch props like the snails from Ron’s scene, a spider leg, and goblin hands. It was unforgettable.
