Today we’re celebrating International Sunglasses Day 🕶️

Snap a selfie in your favourite sunglasses

Use the hashtag #ShadesForStargardts

Did you know that research has shown that UV light can speed up the progression of Stargardt’s which is why it is recommended for people with Stargardt’s that they wear sunglasses all year round even on an overcast day.

People with Stargardt’s can also be photophobic which means they are sensitive to light therefore they have to wear sunglasses to protect them from light sensitivity.

So, let’s shine a light on eye health and celebrate our favourite shades.

Together, we can spread awareness and help others see the importance of eye protection 💫

PD: a yellow poster reading Happy International Sunglasses day. Around the writing is different coloured sunglasses.

Stargardt's Connected

Bhavna was invited to present at the UK Eye Genetic Group (UK-EGG) annual conference at the University of Oxford last week. There she was asked to present on the Stargardt’s Community Register and Stargardt’s Connected.

It was an excellent day and really inspiring as well as exciting to hear about groundbreaking eye research from world leading experts in the field.

It was also good to be able to have the opportunity to raise awareness of some of the work that Stargardt’s Connected does to Medical professionals. Stargardt’s Connected is proud to be a member of UK-EGG.
